E X P A N D I N G P R O G R A M S In recent years, the "maker programs," which focus on do-it-yourself (DIY) design and production of software, new devices or other products, have become increasingly popular. The Library Foundation has launched a fundraising campaign to construct a new Makerspace and multipurpose area and expand the library's maker programs. "This area will be a creative, DIY space that is purposefully- planned and designed for use by the Vestavia Hills commu- nity," Tucker says. "It will be a meeting place that unites people with equipment, education and resources, and it will provide more opportunities for collaborating, learning, creating and designing." Currently, the Library in the Forest offers classes in vinyl cutting and 3D printing, and plans to offer more as funding becomes available.
