T "Trustees are an integral part of who we are and what we do at the Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce with their commitment to the program of work at the Chamber," says Karen Odle, president and CEO of the Chamber. "Their support allows the Chamber to do additional programming as well as demonstrates to the community their commitment for continual improvement in Vestavia Hills." B E N E F I T I N G T H E C O M M U N I T Y Trusteeship offers an avenue for local businesses to make a positive impact on the community. "Being a trustee has given me the platform to encourage existing business own- ers in Vestavia Hills to be active in our Chamber," says Larry Mote, owner of Hollywood Pools. "It has also allowed me the opportunity to engage and communicate with potential new businesses that are looking at our area as a community with strong beliefs and support to local commerce." With a substantial investment in the Chamber, Trustees become more aware of the other businesses in the area and The Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce has more than 1175 members, but each year, a small percentage of those members increase their commitment by becoming Chamber Trustees. These members make a significant investment in the Chamber, which in turn helps support the local business community. are often committed to supporting them. "Being a Trustee with the Vestavia Hills Chamber is my way of giving back and supporting my community," says Becky Hicks, Realtor with RE/MAX Southern Homes. "My home, my office, my church, even my dentist and hairdresser are all in Vestavia Hills. I love shopping and dining in Vestavia Hills and I try to give first priority to those who are Chamber members." B E N E F I T I N G P E R S O N A L L Y Not only does a commitment to the Chamber allow Trustees to support other businesses in Vestavia Hills, but it also pays off for the Trustees' own businesses. "Serving as a Trustee, I feel, has lifted our business to a level that we may not have otherwise been able to reach," Mote says. "Being a Trustee has given me the opportunity to keep my finger on the pulse of the business community and the ability to stay informed by our community and civic leadership."
