C I T Y C E N T E R In November 2017, Katz Properties took ownership of Vestavia Hills City Center, the 450,000-square-foot shopping center on Montgomery Highway. The new owners immedi- ately began tackling property maintenance issues and planning for landscaping improvements, says City Manager Jeff Downes. The City Center's new owner is also planning "some major capital improvements to be announced as soon as the planning is correct," Downes says. "Katz Properties and Stan Glantz have already begun active engagement with the city. They are interested in listening to the community's ideas, are willing to invest in those ideas, and will support the long- term sustainability of one of the largest revenue generating assets in the city of Vestavia Hills."
