For the past few years, the festival has been focused on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) topics. And while STEAM remains an important educational focus, this year's festival was unique, focused on the humanities. On Friday, May 4, East opened its doors for "Stories in the Sky," a festival that celebrated the arts, humanities, and magical stories, and offered students opportunities to see art, history, literature and performance come to life. The event included an inflatable night sky planetarium, craftspeople and artisans at work, performers and storytellers. "In our city, we have so many people who make our lives wonderful through their talents, arts, and stories," Hollis says. "We wanted to welcome them into our school and allow students opportunities to wish, wonder, and hope as they marveled at the constellations that tell ancient stories in our night sky planetarium and meandered through booths where local artisans and performers demonstrated what it's like to do something you love just for the love of it."
